Physiotherapy at Riga Stradins University

Physiotherapy program in English at Riga Stradins University has been designed to promote the development of a rehabilitation system that is consistent with the economic and social needs of the State of Latvia, providing it with qualified and competitive physiotherapists.

The objectives of Physiotherapy Program:

Occupational Therapy, professional study program

It is a specialization in health care, which is based on the aim of improving an individual’s health and wellness in all aspects of life. Occupational therapy prevents and treats physical or mental dysfunctions that impair a person`s ability to perform their daily activities.

The objectives of Physiotherapy Program:
  • Provide students with knowledge about methods that allow individuals to engage in meaningful life activities and to modify environments that make it possible for the individual to function at home, work and in the community.

  • Help master specific theoretical courses: children’s and adult diseases, pharmacology, first aid and professional specialization courses: conceptual practice models in OT, OT in paediatrics, and creative activities in OT.

  • Prepare students for practical training, which consists of clinical practice in somatic medicine, psychiatry and in the development of mental retardation.

Occupational Therapy is 4-year (240 ECTS) full-time program in English. Degree awarded is a BSc degree and qualification: Occupational Therapist.

Graduated specialists are able to provide clinical services to persons of all ages and with a variety of social, psychological, developmental, or physical disabilities as well as to become an educator, researcher, consultant, administrator or master clinician.

Health Management, professional Master's degree program

The Master's degree of Health Management study program, the only of the kind in the Baltics, is jointly implemented by Riga Stradins University and Rīga International School of Economics and Business Administration. The aim of the course is to provide students with highly valued knowledge in health and management grounded in international experience. 

The program courses include: Business strategy and management in health sector; Strategic human resource management; Public health and epidemiology; Health care organization and financing; Finance management; Health economics; Marketing in health management; Legal aspects in health management; Project management; Research methodology.

The Mater’s degree of Health Management study program is 1.5–2 year (3–4 semesters); depending on undergraduate full-time program . The successful students are awarded a Master in Health Management.

Good command of English: all applicants, except native English speakers, must demonstrate their English language proficiency by submitting documents that testify their knowledge of English;
Completed secondary education, including:

  • two semesters of Biology or Chemistry, preferably also Physics or Mathematics for applicants to study programs Medicine or Dentistry;
  • two semesters of Chemistry for applicants in study program Pharmacy;
  • two semesters of Biology for applicants in study programs Occupational Therapy, Physiotherapy or Nursing;
